Profiling Skills -Understanding Motivation and Behaviour

Client Organisation:

Technology Organisation

Departments:

Human Resources

Context:

The HR team had experienced the use of the LAB Profile when it was used as a coaching tool to diagnose why performance of one particular employee had tailed off following promotion. Having been impressed with the results and the depth of insight provided by the LAB Profile the company decided they would like to incorporate the profiling tool into their recruitment process. This would enable them to assess attitudinal fit much more accurately.

Objectives:

To develop skills in the use of one of, if not the, leading profiling tools on the market. Particularly appealing was that the LAB Profile can be conducted face to face, the·accuracy of the patterns could be checked and verified in real time and it is a remarkably conversational tool. It has scope for use covertly·if necessary and as a coaching tool.

Format & Duration:

It was decided that a 3 day training was necessary to be able to apply the LAB profile in the context of profiling for recruitment. (2 day courses are also available for improving communication skills such as influence and persuasion). The LAB Profile is a psycho-linguistic tool and requires that trainings are heavily biased towards practice rather than theory. Good results come from being able to elegantly apply the skills not just·from understanding.·

Outcomes:

The LAB Profile was incorporated into the recruitment process for all employees. The conversational nature of the questions mean that they fit easily within the frame of a traditional interview format. In addition the HR Manager reported that it was a useful tool for understanding the interactions not just between individuals but between departments too.

Comments:

The LAB Profile offers an unparalleled depth of information into how and why people behave the way they do. It can be applied in any context in which people need to understand, communicate with and influence other people. Given that it is a predictive tool, it is particularly pertinent to the recruitment process.
