iWAM

The inventory of Work Attitudes & Motivations

Why have some of our clients approached us about iWAM profiling ?

The reasons are varied as the needs of one organisation vary from those of another. Many of the varied challenges companies face today relate to the performance of their people and teams. We are commonly asked questions along the following lines:

"We want to identify who our next generation of leaders might be, we can easily assess hands on competencies but there are so many other factors vital to being a good manager, how can we assess these less tangible skills ?"

"Sometimes when recruiting we still find it difficult to reach a definite decision, even after second interviews. Past employers often refuse to give detailed references, how can we get a better idea of who will be a best fit or our vacancies ?"

"We are implementing quite radical changes in the structure of the work environment and in the past this has not gone without significant challenges. How can we better understand the human factors and make sure the changes work for everyone ?"

"We want to coach some of our management and leadership team, off the shelf training is very hit and miss, how can we better understand the individual coaching needs of our managers ?"

"Within one of our teams we have a couple of people who out perform everyone else yet they all have access to the same training, how can we better understand the underlying reasons and then just get everyone else up to speed ?"

What will iWAM tell us ?

iWAM is the product of extensive research in Cognitive Science. It measures and describes 48 motivational and working traits that directly influence the performance of individuals and the teams they form.

Instead of measuring direct behaviours, which are subject to choice, iWAM measures the traits that influence those choices. This means it is essentially a predictive tool and in combination the patterns measured provide a wealth of knowledge explaining existing behaviours and predicting behaviours most likely in response to changes or challenges.

Just some of the questions iWAM will answer are as follows:

Levels of Activity:

  • Are you comfortable taking action without first understanding ?
  • How likely are you to be the one initiating action ?
  • Are you focussed on achieving goals ?
  • Do you like to anticipate potential problems ?

How is iWAM used to improve performance ?

iWAM is available as an online assessment and there is also a paper based version. With no 'right or wrong' answers the profile can be completed without supervision so it can literally be used by anyone, anywhere.

The profile typically takes between 20 and 30 minutes to complete and the results of the online version can be delivered by e-mail instantly if required. Typically the time taken to receive results depends on whether iWAM is being used simply as a stand alone assessment tool or as part of a wider consultative development programme.

The iWAM system has multiple reports from simple graphical representations of results to a comprehensive 20 page management report. There are also seperate acknowledgement reports that can be sent to the participants if required.

We have implemented iWAM in numerous and diverse projects including Recruitment, Executive Coaching, Change Management, Appraisals, Conflict Resolution and Team Development.  Why not read some of our Case Studies.

We offer a free consultation and trial on the tools that we use as a consultancy, if these tools are to be of value to you the results will speak for themselves.

We are also able to build in profiling as part of our recruitment service and we are qualified and certified to provide training services in the use of a number of profiling systems.
