MotivationMotivations are the building blocks of our thinking, decisions and our behaviour. Most current theories on motivation are either incomplete or gross generalisations and as such are often grossly ineffective in practical application. Leadership and influence require understanding; people are individuals and need to be understood as individuals. The ability to figure out people and leverage that understanding to get equitable results may be the biggest asset you can bring to your business relationships. Motivation as a ProcessThe effects of motivation can be tangible and measurable yet motivation, although often discussed as a physical attribute, is not something we actually 'have'. Rather, motivation is an on-going process, a process that we experience. Typically motivation is characterised as the expression of energy and enthusiasm, yet this is only one aspect of a more complex series of traits.
