Rapid Interventions for Overcoming ProblemsExecutive coaching is not just about developing new skills. Effective coaching can also be applied to resolving problems. Those problems may be work related or personal issues that are impacting on performance at work. Maximising your potential requires that you stay on top of your game. Leave Your Problems BehindMost professionals can expect to encounter issues in the work place - that's what they're paid to deal with. Occasionally however, something may happen that just seems to derail progress. Even the best of us may occasionally just get stuck. Our performance in any given context is linked to our state in that context. That is, our physical, emotional and mental state will impact directly on how we perform. Getting stuck, that feeling of not knowing what to do or feeling as though there are no options, often results when an unresourceful state becomes permanently linked to a particular issue or problem. What Types Of Issue Can Coaching Resolve ?Different people have different tolerance levels for dealing with trouble. One thing we all have in common though, is that when we can literally feel a problem when we think about it, we have passed the threshold at which we are likely to be able to resolve it with just thinking alone. Some of the issues that commonly result in this kind of problem include:

In any event, this class of problem can be characterised by signs of a persistent unresourceful state taking hold. That feeling of not knowing what to do or a feeling of having run out of options. Because thinking and behaviour are state dependant, performance is state dependant too. That is, our physical, mental and emotional state will impact directly on how we perform in any given context. How We Apply Coaching To Resolving ProblemsThe purpose of a rapid coaching intervention is to get you back on track as quickly as possible, putting you in touch with the appropriate resources you need to deal with whatever the issue was. In order to do this, the first step we take is to resolve the unresourceful state and replace it with one in which you can think clearly and act appropriately. The vast majority of the time, resolving an unresourceful state liberates someone from the tyranny of unresourceful thinking and behaviour and the job is done. If necessary however, we will also equip you with some new behavioural tools to assist in state management and / or management of the issue that resulted in the problem. The Format Of This Type Of Coaching SessionContrary to popular belief the following is actually true:
The duration of a Rapid Intervention coaching session is typically between three and five hours depending on the nature of the issue. The aim is to resolve the issue in one face to face session - however subsequent sessions and telephone support is available.
